How We Serve the Community
Purpose Is Life conducts multiple events throughout the year in various communities throughout Washington, DC. Take a look at our recent events and the impact we’ve had on individuals directly.
Serving the Community in 2023 and 2024
This June, the President and Founder of Purpose Is Life, Jamill Jones was invited by Principal Tracie Dow to serve as commencement speaker for the eighth-grade class of Friendship Academy Southeast. Jones was presented with a Leadership Award by the faculty and administration.
This year, on Easter weekend, Purpose Is Life provided 100 meals and hygiene bags for unsheltered men and women in Washington, DC. The food trays contained proteins and vegetables, and the bags contained winter protection, hygiene products and other essentials and were hand-delivered to several men and women’s shelters across the nation’s capital.
We were excited to partner with Cesar Chavez Public Charter School in Washington DC this year! We provided Thanksgiving meals (a turkey plus four sides) to families in the community.
This year we were blessed to provide the ENTIRE fifth grade class (61 students) from Friendship Academy Southeast items from their holiday wishlist. Thank you to Assistant Principal Tracie Dow and our partners at Spring Valley Pediatrics.
In 2024, the groundhog did not see his shadow but it is still freezing in our neighborhood! We were able to provide 60+ coats to students at Jefferson Middle School Academy in Southwest to help keep them warm.
In collaboration with The Future Moguls, Purpose Is Life hosted a Backpack giveaway and Softball Game at Calvin Coolidge High School, August 28, 2022.
Purpose Is Life provided a space for youth to showcase their products on (June 18, 2022) Juneteenth in Washington, DC
In honor of Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, Purpose Is Life, collaborated with Ricardo D’Sean Brand to host a safe space for men to gather on May 6, 2022.
This year, on Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday weekend, Purpose Is Life provided 400 “Blessing/Hygiene Bags” for unsheltered men and women in Washington, DC. The bags contain winter protection, hygiene products and other essentials and were hand-delivered to several men and women’s shelters across the nation’s capital.

The Purpose Is Life Annual Toy Giveaway was a huge success. Thank you to our unexpected holiday angels and neighbors who stepped up to support this tremendous event.
We were pleased to provide toys, books, and clothing to the families in the Langston Carver Community along with Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie.
Thrilled to serve more than 300 families during the Purpose Is Life 2021 Thanksgiving Meal Giveaway! Thank you to our partners JL Terrell Construction, Walmart, IvyCity Smokehouse, and Ingenuity Prep Public Charter School.
More than 100 students received Nike Elite Backpacks filled with school supplies and materials to kickstart their school year!
Purpose Is Life provided a space for youth to showcase their products on (June 19, 2021) Juneteenth in Washington, DC.
Serving the Community in 2020
Recognizing that COVID-19 had a devastating impact on low-touch communities, Purpose Is Life provided school supplies to three schools in Washington, DC halfway through the year.
In the midst of the pandemic, Purpose Is Life provided toys to 300 families so that children would still experience the joys of the holidays. Thank you to Georgetown Preparatory School for the partnership.
